At Picnic we care about health and safety, so currently all interviews are done online and our team is working from home. We keep a close eye on the developments around Covid-19, and support your relocation to Amsterdam when it is safe to do so. It is possible to start working remotely with us - have a peek at how the remote onboarding is going here.
Do you want to be part of the grocery revolution? At Picnic you get the chance to join a young and forward-thinking startup culture, where everything you do matters. With a data-driven approach and an incredible service, Picnic strives to make grocery shopping simple, fun, and affordable for everyone. Known for our just-in-time supply-chain and a unique last-mile delivery strategy, we have become one of the fastest-growing companies of the Netherlands!
We are on the hunt for Experienced Java Developers who are looking to make a difference. Is this you?
🏢 Where you fit in
Our developers are highly involved and essential to each part of our company. From route planning, scaling our customers’ analytics to handle enormous chunks of data, to calculating how many bananas we should have in our warehouse on a Thursday – our teams write, plan, and predict.
As one of our Experienced Software Engineers, you take ownership and drive projects, while being responsible for the development of your team members and working collaboratively with other teams. You feel accountable for the design, testing and the evaluation of the nuts and bolts of our operation - showing a creative and analytical approach. You feel at home writing reliable code and display an intricate understanding of how each line fits into a business plan. You don't really care about titles, but if you had to choose one, "senior" would fit best.
At Picnic your experience will be complemented with the latest tech and you'll have the opportunity to dive into a broad choice of innovative projects. By keeping an eye on the roadmap and our business priorities, you'll support and guide your team to really make a difference. From designing, developing, and testing new user-facing features, to optimizing supply chain systems and improving the scalability and security of our platform: you’ll be managing individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, while finding yourself fully immersed in an engaging startup culture. There are tons of challenging projects at Picnic. The team that works on our fully automated fulfilment center, for instance, designs and develops the strategies that determine how to cleverly store an incoming delivery of groceries in our three-dimensional chaos storage system. Meanwhile, they also figure out from where to retrieve those groceries again for picking the orders in the most effective way. All of this requires a next-level integration of the robotics in the warehouse - from lifts to shuttles and 16 km of conveyor belts. We trust each of our developers to be able to run a project from writing a complete RFC to actually implementing a feature. You’ll also have dedicated time to work on improving performance, architecture, observability and in general, how to make things even better!
We don’t hide what we do. Instead, we open-source with the community that helped us grow. Here’s proof: http://picnic.tech
